The program focused on economic development while emphasizing the many favorable attributes of the Atlanta Metro area. Panelists outlined Atlanta’s strengths as an international transportation hub and center of commerce, and provide insight on financial incentives for businesses and site selection strategies within the Atlanta region.

Brenda RobbinsBrenda Robbins

Senior Project Manager, Economic Development

As a Georgia Power project manager, Ms. Robbins is responsible for facilitating the location, expansion, or start-up of businesses wishing to invest in Georgia. Brenda assists companies in identifying potential communities, sites or buildings throughout the state; she also provides market evaluation, construction information, engineering assistance, and serves as a liaison between the businesses and governmental agencies involved in the site selection process. Brenda has a strong background in information systems and software, establishing data centers and talent recruitment. She has extensive expertise and experience with headquarters locations, information technology, finance and insurance, business services, bio science, health IT and data centers. Brenda has worked with more than 150 companies that have established a presence in Georgia, collectively investing more than $7 billion and employing more than 34,000 Georgians.

Brenda is a member of the Georgia Economic Developers Association, the Metro Atlanta Bioscience Leadership Council and the Alpharetta Technology Commission. She serves on the board of directors of the Atlanta Commercial Board of REALTORS® (ACBR) and was named the organization’s 2014 Affiliate of the Year. Brenda also serves on the board of Meet At Inc., the metro Atlanta real estate community’s premier business development forum. Brenda was named among the Top 50 Economic Developers in the nation by Consultant Connect in 2015 and 2016.

Brenda graduated from Auburn University with a business administration degree in marketing. She completed her Masters in Business Administration at Georgia State University. Brenda is a volunteer with Atlanta Pet Rescue. Her interests include travel, whitewater rafting, and gardening.

Kevin JohnsonKevin Johnson

Senior Vice President, Economic Development

Kevin Johnson is Senior Vice President of Economic Development at Invest Atlanta. In this role, he is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to drive economic growth and development, support relationships with civic, business, governmental and economic development stakeholder constituents.

An accomplished President and Vice-President in his Economic Development career, his capabilities have generated significant capital investment and job creation at the St. Joe Company (FL) 2009-2011, Research Triangle Park(NC) 2005-2009, Greater Phoenix(AZ) Economic Council 2002-2005 and High Point(NC) Economic Development Corporation 1992- 2000.

Kevin has a bachelor’s degree in Political Science/Pre-Law from South Carolina State University and earned his Certified Economic Developer designation (CEcD) from IEDC in 1996. He has received numerous professional and community awards.

Carol HendersonCarol Henderson

Director, Business Incentives Practice

Carol Henderson brings more than 15 years of experience in assisting domestic and international clients in site location decisions resulting from relocation, expansion or consolidation. She has managed location strategies for corporate clients in healthcare, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, telecommunications, and information technology. Ms. Henderson has secured business incentives for a variety of small and large real estate transactions including manufacturing, corporate headquarters, research and development, specialty healthcare facilities, call centers and data centers.

Ms. Henderson joined C&W in 2015, bringing extensive knowledge and experience from her work in state and local government. As Director of Life Science and Information Technology within the Global Commerce Division for the Georgia Department of Economic Development, Ms. Henderson successfully led the $1.3 billion Baxter International, Inc. biotechnology manufacturing project securing over $200 million in state and local tax incentives.

Gregg SimonGregg Simon

Vice President Economic Development

Gregg D. Simon is vice president of economic development for the Metro Atlanta Chamber (MAC). In his role, Simon works to build and manage relationships with our economic development partners across the 29-county metro Atlanta region and cultivate job growth across MAC’s industry clusters: bioscience, technology, mobility, supply chain & logistics and global commerce. He also assists businesses and their consultants in their evaluation of metro Atlanta for new or expanded operations.

Previously, he served as senior director of project management at MAC, and worked with partners and MAC’s project management team to support businesses interested in expanding or relocating to the region. Before that he was director of technology industry development at MAC, focusing on building Atlanta’s technology cluster and growing jobs in the areas of Internet security, wireless mobility, software development and digital media.

Simon brings more than 20 years of economic development experience to MAC. Prior to joining MAC, Simon was manager of business engagement for the Atlanta Development Authority (ADA) where he helped existing businesses and attract new ones to the city of Atlanta. Before coming to Atlanta, he was the director of business services for the Massachusetts Alliance for Economic Development, a private non-profit economic development organization dedicated to business growth in Massachusetts. He also worked for Empire State Development, New York State’s economic development agency with a focus on business retention and expansion in the Buffalo regional office.

Simon’s work in Atlanta, Massachusetts and New York has included administration of tax and financial incentive programs, business retention and attraction marketing initiatives, economic development policy creation and implementation, and special event planning. He has worked with businesses such as Mercedes-Benz USA, Panasonic Automotive Systems of America, Ernst & Young, Novelis, Kemira, Invesco, Wipro, Bristol Myers Squibb, Straumann, Target, General Motors, 3M, Ford, Delphi and many others to support business expansions resulting in job retention and creation.

Simon is a graduate of the University of Rochester in Rochester, NY and lives in Atlanta with his wife and three children.

Dany Koe is an associate for Colliers International where he specializes in office tenant representation in the Atlanta market. He is passionate about helping his clients make real estate decisions that are aligned with their overall strategy. Dany consults with his clients to determine their most suitable option by either an expansion, renewal, renegotiation or relocation.

Prior to office tenant representation, Dany worked with Colliers' GSAXCHANGE national platform where he focused on the investment sales of government-leased assets across the country. Dany also represents multiple owners as a landlord representative and has executed numerous user sales.
