One February 14th, nearly 1000 REALTORS® from every corner of Georgia participated in the 2017 GAR Legislative Day at the Capitol. Members spent the day at the Capitol learning about how the Georgia General Assembly works and interacting with their legislators.
After a morning of Legislative briefings and meeting with their legislators, our members were met at lunch by Governor Nathan Deal, who spoke about Georgia’s economic future and how vital the Real Estate industry is to Georgia’s continued growth.
Among the issues that REALTORS® presented to our Representatives and Senators were efforts to rein in exorbitant HOA fees, the update of the eminent domain statute, the separating of property tax and non-tax fees and real estate license provisions for disciplinary actions. Legislative Day was a part of GAR’s 2017 Inaugural Conference and Expo where the Atlanta REALTORS® Association’s very own Sheila Brower was sworn in as the 2017 GAR President.
