The July Education Seminar featured compelling observations and thought-provoking forecasts from several of Atlanta’s most accomplished and preeminent producers in both the office and industrial investment markets. Jim Caswell, of Bridge Commercial Real Estate, moderated this lively panel which explored topics from innovative industry trends, rising tenant expectations, emerging challenges and obstacles, and the evolution of Atlanta as a true international city. The standing-room-only crowd was able to enjoy a highly entertaining, yet provocative discussion focused on both conflicts and potential solutions.

Mr. Caswell has over seven years of commercial real estate experience leasing commercial projects in the Atlanta area. Jim’s relationships with the younger commercial brokerage community and his aggressive approach to leasing makes him the perfect fit for more challenging leasing projects. Previously, Mr. Caswell was the Leasing Director at PC Associates; an Atlanta based commercial real estate developer. Mr. Caswell was responsible for the leasing and marketing of over 1.3 million square feet of Class “A” multi-story office product. As the Leasing Director he represented joint-venture partners such as Northwestern Mutual, Met Life and American Realty Advisors. During his tenure at PC Associates, Mr. Caswell created tremendous value through his leasing efforts during the disposition process of over 1.4 million square feet of commercial office space, The transactions exceeded over $270 million dollars in gross value.

Jim attended the University of Mississippi and graduated with a Bachelor Degree in Liberal Arts, majoring in Psychology with a minor in General Business. He is an active member of the Atlanta Commercial Board of Realtors (ACBR), Young Council of Realtors (YCR), National Association of Office & Industrial Properties (NAIOP) and The Shepherd Center’s “Shepherd’s Cup” Committee. In his spare time he enjoys spending time with friends and family, golfing, fishing, and volunteer activities.

As Principal and Managing Director of the Atlanta office, Steve Dils is responsible for Avison Young’s day-to-day operations in the Greater Atlanta area as well as providing assistance in the company’s expansion in the Southeast U.S. Steve has more than 25 years of commercial real estate experience. He opened the Atlanta office in 2010 as the sole employee. The office has now grown to over 100 employees with 28 brokers.

Prior to opening the Atlanta office for Avison Young he was Executive Vice President and Managing Director of Grubb & Ellis’ Atlanta office where he was responsible for all service lines in the Atlanta marketplace, South Florida and the Southeast affiliates. His background is extensive, ranging from leasing and management to corporate development.

Jessica is a key member of the Landlord Services Group with a dedicated focus on increasing asset value to office properties she represents.

For the past six years, Jessica has worked directly on the institutional ownership side of the business and as such understands the significant impact her leasing efforts have on the valuation of a property. Her institutional background and creative nature are what set her apart.

Prior to joining Colliers, Jessica was the Managing Broker and Leasing Director at John Hancock Real Estate where she oversaw the leasing of a 4.5 million square foot portfolio located within the Southeast. Notable assets include The Proscenium and 1100 Peachtree located within Midtown, Phipps Tower located in Buckhead and Ashford Green located in Central Perimeter.  Additionally, Jessica spent five years in Landlord Representation working

with Newmark Grubb Knight Frank exclusively representing local, regional, and institutional owners.  Prior to that, Jessica was the Vice President of Leasing for Ackerman and Company.   Jessica brings over 20 years of high level experience to the team.

Prior to joining Trammell Crow and later at CBRE, Frank was a Regional Director for Prologis where he was responsible for the operations, development and market strategy for the Southeast Region.

With roughly 13 years of experience, Ms. Stern, along with her team members, Vice Chairmen John Shlesinger and Sam Holmes, focuses on providing unparalleled service and creativity to solve complex real estate problems and reduce occupancy costs. With both a real estate and finance background, Ms. Stern provides her clients with an arsenal of services, including lease analysis, abstract and negotiation, strategic consulting, relocation analyses, discounted cash flow analyses and disposition consulting, among others.

Before taking over her current role, Ms. Stern headed CBRE’s brokerage financial consulting group and was responsible for providing financial and analytical services to institutional and corporate clients. Prior to joining CBRE, Ms. Stern was with Trammel Crow Company, where she oversaw the financial structure and daily operations of two business units.

Ms. Stern is married with one son and resides in Atlanta.
