Atlanta Construction Value Reaches $5.6 Billion

Local

During a recent meeting with the Commissioner of Planning and Development, Tim Keane, the City of Atlanta announced that in 2018 construction value reached a record $5.6 Billion. The Commissioner also highlighted some gains the department has seen recently.

Commissioner Keane highlighted progress the department has made to run more efficiently including, reducing approvals of plan reviews to 1-2 cycles, average plan review days for commercial plans down to 6 days and 94% of inspections are completed within the agreed upon time limit.

The City of Atlanta is experiencing record growth, bouncing back strong since the great recession. A combination of businesses choosing to relocate to Atlanta and people returning to the city from the suburbs has increased Atlanta's population from 420,003 in 2010 to 459,600 today. Rod Mullice, ACBR representative on the TAC, credits the vision of previous Mayors that created an infrastructure that made Atlanta attractive and able to be built on.
